Hi Meg, I live in the neighborhood of Quinsou and I totally agree, although I'm not as wild about the food as you were. I am pretty shocked at the price hikes in this neighborhood this past year, especially on rue du Cherche-Midi but Quinsou is astonishing. Very depressing decor, no ambiance, and actually usually empty...I don't understand their business model..I would much rather go to Ambos, where chefs Christina and Pierre are delightful and the food is nice.
I thoroughly enjoy the insights you share in your reviews, and this one was just particularly delightful. I'm a bit astounded at the price increase noted since your last visit to Quinsou. Still, it's on my list for our next visit to Paris.
It seems like a great meal -- definitely a splurge. With that said, we have spent way more at a number of restaurants in Paris, especially when including a nice bottle of wine. As far as the decor, Quinsou is no La tour D'argent.
I love the way you write about food. This place sounds great in terms of the menu, but even just from your picture I can see what you mean about the decor. It feels almost like a canteen.
Phenomenal review. The food is central, but there is so much more that impacts a dining experience. “Value” is a cold, technical term for an experience that depends so much on artistry, artisanship and hospitality, but I can’t think of a better one. This restaurant seems to come up a little short. I’ve seen restaurants ruined by receiving that star. Is that what happened here?
Decor looks like something from a mid-2000s cafe. Cover anything in truffle, butter, caviar, and stinky cheese, and it will taste good.

PS Your photos are par excellence...

I can eat there, vicariously, with your lovely prose. 😋
Your writing and analysis are both superb. I especially liked your comments about the wine and a photo of the list.
The dining room appears to me to be somewhat sterile and lacking the "je ne sais pas." Food presentation is predictable. Prices are not too bad.

The food looks gorgeous, but completely agree about the decor!!
