The pandemic changed the way we think and write about restaurants. We became less interested in chasing the new. We wanted to return and support old favorites - the restaurants we would have been devastated to lose if they hadn’t survived. But what was still open, and still good?
Before the world stopped, our restaurant guide had ballooned to recommend more than 600 addresses - far too many to revisit with any regularity. We decided to wipe the slate clean and to focus on restaurants that we could endorse based on recent visits (anonymous and fully paid). We’ve spent the last 15 months returning to old friends and trying new spots.
This list of 50 Restaurants for Fall is based on that first-hand experience and heavily influenced by the season. The dishes and cozy interiors that we crave in autumn are not what we wanted during the heat wave.
Our recommendations from this point forward will be quarterly, based on new openings and return visits. They’ll also be seasonal, reflecting what we want to eat in winter, spring and summer. They’re also reserved for the paid subscribers who financially support this research (merci).
We really hope you enjoy these recommendations for autumnal eating in Paris. Let us know if you’re looking for something else and we’ll respond here with our best advice, as we’ve already done hundreds of times for our paid subscribers.
